Course Descriptions

Continuity Consulting can work with your organization to develop a formal training program based on our Leadership Development Program. Our program utilizes a comprehensive curriculum delivered by dynamic and experienced presenters.

Continuity Consulting’s training methodologies are all participant based. All courses contain extensive discussion and group work. Exercises can be developed in conjunction with the customer to make all group work relevant to current conditions and provide a platform for participants to practice what is learned in a controlled environment. Problem Based Learning techniques are used to challenge participants to consider multiple approaches to “real” problems encountered in leadership.

The cornerstone of Continuity’s leadership training is the strong belief that leaders thrive by understanding who they are and what they value, and by becoming aware of unhealthy blind spots or weaknesses that can derail them. Continuous learning and self-reflection will be demonstrated throughout the courses and form the core of the teaching content. Continuity will provide content, exercises and Problem Based Learning scenarios which provide participants with a confident, healthy sense of self, as endowed with talent, dignity, and the potential to lead.

Course List

Leadership Development Course – This course provides a broad knowledge of leadership theories, styles and methods. Self analysis will provide a foundation for future leader’s to select the style of leadership that fits within their strengths. Problem based learning exercises will allow each student to “practice” leadership skills and receive feedback from classmates. Practical application of all topics will be stressed throughout each class.

Interpersonal Skills Course Effective leaders thrive by understanding who they are and what they value, by becoming aware of unhealthy blind spots or weaknesses that can derail them, and by cultivating the habit of continuous self-reflection and learning. The interpersonal skills module builds upon the foundation of Course 1 through the practical application of working with others.

Decision Making & Problem Solving Course Making decisions and solving problems effectively is a necessary and vital part of all leaders’ responsibilities. This course is designed to improve decision-making skills. Considerable time will be devoted to problem based learning and practicing of the decision making skills.

Coaching & Performance Management Course Students will develop an understanding of the importance of creating relationships that will develop a workforce with skills needed to compete in a more chaotic and complex world. This training approach looks towards the future rather than the past as Performance Evaluation does, team members and leaders began to receive constant feedback from relationships, giving everyone a maximum amount of control over their own performance.

Team Building Course The team building course will expose class members to the dysfunctions that arise and the attributes that will propel a team into a collaborative, productive working unit. Building trust (foundation of all great teams) will be explored and how to continue building trust in meetings, one on one conversations and within team settings. Lastly, succession planning methods will be explored so organizational values can be sustained.

Change Management Course This course explores the strategic and tactical approach to learning how to lead through change. Skills and understanding are developed on how to make fundamental changes in how business is conducted in order to cope with a new, more challenging environment. Phases of change are studied in depth for understanding that change presents unique challenges to an organization and these challenges need to be anticipated and addressed.

Process Improvement Course A one-day workshop on uncovering what really happens in the workplace and learning to use simple, powerful tools for improving an organization’s performance. The workshop is intended for project managers, operations supervisors and process owners who wish to both understand and graphically capture processes and activities that impact service delivery. It is also an ideal starting point for teams beginning Continuous Improvement or Process Re-design projects.

The workshop will highlight opportunities for cost, variation and cycle-time reduction, along with performance improvements that better meet internal customer's expectations. It will provide step-by-step instruction for creating and analyzing different types of process maps, while providing tools, templates and skills that can be immediately applied on return to the work environment. This will allow participants to better comprehend and analyze processes that effect performance, describe high level enterprise’s processes in a succinct manner, and identify processes that add customer value, and those that waste resources.

Process Management Course Learn skills, tools and concepts that will help you understand and lead your organization more effectively. See how the work activities you manage fit into the organization, and how they impact the customer experience. Understand what a process is, what its components are, and how its outputs fit into the organization's mission. Create a framework for process improvement and growth. This workshop focuses on improving the way people and systems work together. The workshop is highly interactive, providing participants with the new skills that can be immediately applied to real issues in the workplace.

Project Management Fundamentals Course (3 Days) Project managers, project leaders, and project coordinators are responsible for an array of projects both large and small. This Project Management Fundamentals Course examines the fundamentals of project management practices using a dozen hands-on exercises to reinforce the learning objectives. The course provides an overview of project management and explores each PMBOK knowledge area to familiarize the participant with the tools and techniques at their disposal.

Project Management for Executives (1/2 day) Executive managers are chartered with oversight responsibilities for multiple projects within their functional area. The Project Management for Executives Course will provide the executive manager with an approach to examine the integration of project management functions and processes. The executive manager must balance strategic objectives with organizational and environmental resources. Several tools are at their disposal including portfolio management, project initiation, life cycle modeling, project organizations, and project control activities to ensure the executive has the tools needed to manage their resources through successful project completion.
